If you loved stitching with Susan in her last class, we’re so happy to share that her newest workshop is now open for registration.
There’s no better way to welcome spring than with a needle, thread, and a little handmade magic. Join our talented artisan and beloved community member, Susan, for a cozy three-part workshop series where we’ll stitch, gather, and create together.
In this special series, you’ll bring to life our Garden Collage Patchwork Sewing House — a beautifully layered, heirloom-inspired piece filled with florals, butterflies, and thoughtful details. From delicate cross-stitch panels to textured crochet borders and patchwork construction, each element comes together to tell a story of the season.
Your Garden Collage Patchwork Sewing House Kit is included with registration and will be shipped separately prior to the first class. Once you purchase the workshop, you’ll receive your Zoom invitations immediately by email. Each session is taught live, recorded for your convenience, and includes exclusive access to Susan for personalized guidance, Q&A, and encouragement throughout the course.

Dates: April 18, April 25, and May 2
Time: 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET
Location: Online via Modern Prairie on Zoom
Includes: Garden Collage Patchwork Sewing House Kit, access to Zoom recordings, and exclusive instructor support
Workshop Breakdown
Session 1: Saturday, April 18
We’ll begin by getting familiar with your materials, reviewing your kit, cutting fabric, and learning the foundation of the pattern. Susan will guide you through cross-stitch and backstitch techniques as you begin creating your first stitched panels, including delicate florals and butterflies.
Session 2: Saturday, April 25
This week is all about building your story through texture and detail. You’ll continue your stitched elements and begin assembling your patchwork pieces, layering fabrics and trims to create that signature garden collage look.
Session 3: Saturday, May 2
We’ll bring everything together with the finishing touches — assembling your sewing house, attaching your stitched panels, and adding special elements like your butterfly holder and decorative details. By the end, you’ll have a finished piece that feels both personal and timeless.

Our returns have been wonderful experiences and they have welcomed us back.
September 13 will be a gathering at my air B&B and I will send the address closer to the event. DOORS OPEN AT 9:30. PLEASE BRING ANY BEVERAGES YOU WOULD LIKE, I WILL PROVIDE LUNCH, AND IF YOU HAVE A NEED FOR LIGHTS, CORDS, POWER STRIPS AND A CHAIR YOU TRAVEL WITH…YES, BRING IT ALL!!!!!!
It will be an exclusive workshop. We will go until 4:00pm. That evening I would like to have us go to dinner, BYO, together-more later.
September 14: (time to be shared on the 13th)
A morning of exploring the archival treasures Tessa and Neil select for us and the conservation lab always has an interesting exploration going on.

YES! I am looking forward to sharing time with my Murfreesboro gals. We are on a Tuesday and Wednesday shedule this year. The holiday kind of messed up scheduling BUT, I hope you can join me. Tuesaday morning there will be 2 workshops! One will be finishing the stitching I mail to you…it is FUN and the second, for the afternoon, is an array of stitches on Sampler Candle II.
Lunch is included and in the afternoon a sweet teapot pin cushion and we will have a tea party of snacks. FEE: $165.00 THREE WORKSHOPS on Tuesday!
Wednesday May 27, from 10:00 until 4:00 (doors open at 9:30)
A speical circle of stitches and a touch of cut work (not like the last one!!) This one is a beauty and the history goes back to Italy. It includes, all supplies and a beautiful -already made- necessaire. Colors are gentle, mauve, tan and blue.…some very interesing stitches. FEE: $150.00
